The LA Times has a writeup on Republican Senator Tom McClintock, the second favorite Republican in California ( right behind the Governator Arnold ).

Senator McClintock had previously endorsed Fred Thompson, who recently dropped out of the race.  While the Senator has not offically announced his new preference, the following quotes tell us where he is leaning:

“If I were to vote today, I probably would be casting a vote for Ron Paul. I’m not voting today.” -Senator McClintock

This was followed by, “I do believe he will respect our Constitu.. I don’t want to go too far. I am still looking.” -Senator McClintock

The Senator is obviously not wanting to jump too fast, but it seems that Ron Paul is his favored candidate.

When looking at the national makeup, it seems that the West Coast seems to favor candidates that are more “out of the box.”  California is a state that loves anything out of the ordinary, so Ron Paul could find a lot of welcoming arms.
